Jermain Colin Defoe OBE is an English football coach and a former player who played as a striker. Born on October 7, 1982, in Beckton, England, Defoe first made a name for himself in the West Ham United youth system. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Defoe played for Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Toronto FC, and Rangers, among other clubs. He was known for his clinical finishing, swift movement, and ability to score goals in crucial situations.

He earned 57 caps for the England national team, scoring 20 goals, and represented his country at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012. Off the pitch, Defoe is remembered for his close bond with Bradley Lowery, a young Sunderland fan battling neuroblastoma, and for establishing the Jermain Defoe Foundation, supporting homeless, vulnerable children in the Caribbean and the UK. Since retiring, he has pursued coaching and media roles.
